To be able to trust someone to take care of my day-to-day responsibilities in order for me to completely throw myself behind a few causes would bring great joy to my day. I would throw myself into assisting the Ronald McDonald house as House Manager for a few hours. The Ronald McDonald house is a cause very close to my heart. My oldest daughter was born 3 months premature which involved a 3 month stay in a hospital hours from home. My husband and I could not afford to travel back and forth and pay for hotels. The Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for family members to visit and still care for their young ones that are hospitalized. The facilities are equipped with rooms, a community kitchen and stocked pantry, play area, lounge and family area. There is no fee however donations are accepted.
After leaving the Ronald McDonald House, I would head down to a No Kid Hungry site to assist with feeding school-age children lunch during the summer months. Most families rely on their children eating free or reduced lunch and/or breakfast when school is in session. During the summer months, many of these children go hungry because of the family’s lack of funds to provide breakfast and lunch while school is out. In some areas, a bus transports the children to a site to enjoy free meals. In other areas, the bus arrives at a designated location filled with lunches for the kids. The kids just hop on the bus and grab a meal. Some areas also provide parents with information on how to prepare healthy and affordable meals. Please help with surrounding kids with healthy food where they live, learn and play.
